EDMUND CAHILL, 20
Staten Island Railway train operator
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Lifelong Dongan Hills resident
Edmund (Eddie) Cahill III, a Staten Island Railway train
operator, died Saturday at home. He was 20.
Mr. Cahill attended St. Ann's School in Dongan Hills
and New Dorp High School.
For the past 15 months, he worked as a conductor on the
Staten Island Railway. He was still working at the time of
his death.
Mr. Cahill was a kind-hearted, easy-going and family
oriented, said family members.
"He always made family his first priority," said
his brother, Matthew. "He was modest, reliable and
patient."
Mr. Cahill never forgot to wave from the train to his
grandparents as he passed their Dongan Hills home every day,
he said.
He was an avid Yankee fan, and enjoyed playing video games
with his brother on the Internet.
Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his
fiancee, Frances Rampino, his siblings, parents and
grandparents.
He was a parishioner of St. Ann's R.C. Church, Dongan
Hills.
In addition to his brother, Matthew, surviving are his
parents, Edmund Cahill Jr. and Geralyn Cahill; his maternal
grandpernts, Pat and Marie Garofano, and a sister, Cara
Cahill. The funeral will be Thursday from the Hanley
Funeral Home, New Dorp, with a mass at 10 a.m. in St.
Ann's R.C. Church, Dongan Hills. Burial will be in Fair
View Cemetery, Castleton Corners.
